SAGA Poland is developing innovative technology for heat-treating castings directly in the HPDC cell

SAGA Poland has launched work on an innovative technology aimed at heat-treating castings directly at the HPDC cell station.

In the first stage of the project, activities have begun to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomena occurring in castings subjected to heat treatment. The research processes are being carried out with the expert support of the Faculty of Foundry Engineering at the AGH University of Krakow. The completed activities include, among others, the construction of an experimental mould for AlSi alloys, supported by numerical simulations confirming the effectiveness of the gating system and the mould temperature-control system.

At the same time, work is underway on developing improvements to HPDC machine cells, which—combined with the ability to cast experimental samples—will enable effective achievement of the project’s objectives and verification of its results.
