PROJECT

“Development and implementation of a production programme for car window fitting positioners, together with the automation process of their palletisation, based on an innovative zinc alloy with enhanced thermal and mechanical strength properties”

Project objectives:

Development of an innovative product cast from a zinc alloy with aluminium, copper, titanium and other micro-additives, which, thanks to its technical parameters and the automated control process, will meet the strict requirements of the automotive sector and allow the replacement of components previously manufactured from sintered steel. As a result, a higher-quality product will reach the market, produced through a cheaper and more energy-efficient manufacturing process.

The new product will make it possible to:
combine the best features of the existing material (technical parameters) with the best characteristics of high-pressure die-casting based on an automated production process, namely efficiency, consistent quality, low time consumption and energy efficiency.

Outcomes:

  • Reduction of production costs for positioners glued to car windows compared with the costs of products made from sintered steel,
  • cost reduction through the introduction of an automatic production control regime,
  • obtaining a product with repeatable technical parameters comparable to those of sintered components,
  • achieving appropriate tolerances for the application of adhesives and the placement of positioners on carriers in a Cartesian or serial system,
  • reduction of energy consumption for producing a single component by 80% compared with production of the same component by sintering,
  • broad replacement of sintered steel products with the new, lighter product based on the new alloy, resulting in reduced vehicle weight and contributing to savings.
